Regional Success Stories

The Springfield area is home to several headquarter and corporate offices of major national employers including one of America’s largest privately held companies, Bass Pro Shops, and Fortune 500 O’Reilly Auto Parts.  These two companies, both of which were founded in and continue to operate out of Springfield, grew their operations from infancy to multi-billion dollar companies with local resources in the region and employ more than 4,000 people combined to date.

BKDWith 34 offices across fourteen states, BKD, LLP is one of the largest accounting and advisory firms in the country, and only continues to grow.  In 2009, the company expanded into their downtown Springfield location which houses both their Springfield and National offices, and company continues to grow, most recently expanding into the Nashville market.

Another company that calls the Springfield Region home is banking software and technology company, Jack Henry & Associates.  Established just outside of Springfield in Monett, Missouri, Jack Henry was began with only 6 employees out of a building designed to serve as a residence for one of the companies founders.  Today, the company has grown to more than 4,600 employees across the U.S., and while their corporate headquarters resides in Monett to this day, the company also has a 500,000 sq. ft. campus in Springfield that employs nearly 1,000 people.

Access to Labor Force

These corporate offices, and many others, continue to expand and succeed in the Springfield Region by utilizing the region’s friendly business climate and tapping into the region’s 316,000 person labor force.  Employers in Springfield also have access to more than 50,000 college students, half of which attend Missouri State University, home to the largest college of business in a seven state area.  Additionally, these businesses have access to an active talent attraction program, an initiative designed to assist employers attract the right talent to the area by providing a variety of resources that talk about living, working, playing, and learning in the region.
