AT&T Inc. is continuing a local hiring trend it started earlier this year.

The company announced this morning it is looking to hire 22 Springfield-area employees to focus on its U-Verse service – television, Internet and phone, according to a news release.

The premise technicians would add to 57 workers hired earlier this year for AT&T’s downtown call center, 600 E. St. Louis St. With the new additions, the company will have hired nearly 80 locally in the past six months.

Wages for the new employees would start at $12.85 to $17.56 per hour and include medical benefits, according to the release.

New employees would start as early as June, but the hiring timeline stretches through August.

AT&T competitor T-Mobile USA Inc. in April marked a need for 90 additional workers for its north Springfield call center, bringing the facility’s worker count to about 500.

Communication Solutions LLC also is advertising a need for additional workers outside of its recently completed Scenic Avenue and Sunshine Street facility.
