Springfield metro area recognized for advanced industries growth

In August, the Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institute released a report on America’s advanced industries, a growing sector of wide-ranging industries characterized by high levels of research and development and workers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) occupations.

Looking at advanced industries annual average growth from 2013-2015, the report ranked Springfield at No. 11 in output and No. 53 in jobs among 281 similarly-sized metro areas.
