Paul Mueller Company announced plans to increase the workforce at its manufacturing facility in Springfield. The company plans to add 289 new employees over the next three years to their existing workforce. On average, wages for the jobs will be above the county average of $34,676 and will include a comprehensive benefits package. Paul Mueller Company has already hired 89 new employees since the beginning of the year bringing the Springfield workforce to a total of 485 employees.

In addition, the company anticipates making a capital investment of $600,000 over the next 5 years, including the purchase of new equipment and upgrades to their current machinery.

The company will receive workforce training assistance from Ozarks Technical Community College and has qualified for Missouri Department of Economic Development’s tax incentive programs.

“The significant expansion of the Paul Mueller Company adds another chapter to the company’s decades-long history of excellence, and is a big win for the economy of Springfield, the state of Missouri and our manufacturing sector,” Gov. Jay Nixon said. “Having another homegrown company like Paul Mueller Company continuing to increase its investment in the state of Missouri, after being here for decades, is more proof of the positive direction of our state’s economy. We will continue to fight every single day, for every single job, to keep our state economy moving forward.”

The Springfield Partnership for Economic Development, consisting of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Springfield Business Development Corporation, Greene County, the City of Springfield and City Utilities, with additional support from Missouri Department of Economic Development, worked together with Paul Mueller Company to provide assistance through the successful expansion process.

These successful partnerships coupled with highly competitive utility rates and a productive workforce make the Springfield region a prime location for manufacturing facilities like Paul Mueller Company. Recent expansion announcements by John Deere Reman, Digital Monitoring Products, and UnderCover, Inc. provide additional evidence the Springfield region has the right elements for the manufacturing sector to continue to grow.
